True education recognizes the importance of partnership between families, community, and school to ensure its students are prepared for life success. We encourage you to consider how you might partner with Kohn Elementary to help make this year full of “striking pride.”
School Site Council (SSC) Meeting Flyer and Current Agenda
The school site council (SSC) is a group of teachers, parents, classified employees, and students (at the middle school level) that works with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. The members of the school site council are elected by their peers.
English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) Meeting Flyer and Current Agenda
The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is a group of English Learner parents and community members who advise and assist schools in making important decisions related to services for English Learners. The California Education Code requires an ELAC be formed at schools with more than 20 identified English Learners. Any student's parent or community member can serve on the ELAC. The ELAC executive board is made up of five ELAC members who can only be elected by parents of English Learners. At least three members of the executive board must be parents of English Learners themselves. The chairperson must be a parent of an English Learner in attendance at the school.
Kohn's Advisory Committee
The Community School Advisory Council works together on an ongoing basis to review data and ensure that programs and services offered at the Community School are effectively supporting student and family development
and thus, supporting its continual improvement and sustainability. Members commit to actively participate in all Community School Advisory Council meetings and to promote the community school’s programs and activities when possible.
PTO
Our PTO hosts school activities throughout the year to promote school spirit and help build relationships among our families. The PTO works to provide funds for classroom supplies and field trips that balance our school curriculum and improve each child’s experience at Kohn. We extend an invitation to all Cobra parents and teachers to attend our regular PTO meetings starting in the Fall.
